At EarthOptics, we see soil. Differently. EarthOptics is an agricultural technology company developing next-generation soil-sensing technologies that give growers revolutionary insights into the physical characteristics of their soil. Our team has diverse backgrounds in engineering, software development, geospatial analytics, data science, machine learning and logistics and operations. We believe that below-ground precision and innovation in the soil space is long overdue. Our ultimate goal is to deliver point-of-care soil health insights – related to physical, chemical, and biological attributes of soil – in real-time.
Our initial product centered on prescriptive tillage, residue management, and quantifying whole-field organic matter content; TillMapper™, our flagship compaction mapping product, is a soil mapping system that measures agricultural compaction down to a depth of 18 inches. Using our proprietary software interface, growers can make adjustments based on their tillage preferences and export a finalized tillage prescription that meets their needs.
Our second product, CMapper, is a high-resolution carbon and organic content mapping system. CMapper maps relies on the same patented technology that we used to construct TillMapper, namely the fusion of in-situ measurements with remote sensor data and machine learning to map soil attributes better, faster, and cheaper than ever before.
In support of our TillMapper and CMapper products, the GroundOwl™ is a multi-modal, electromagnetic soil density measurement system, designed specifically to capture mapping data for agricultural applications. The GroundOwl, which is scheduled to enter large scale production in 2022, is mountable on a side-by-side, quad, or tractor system for fast, efficient data collection. It will also feature fully-integrated, real-time functionality when operated with supported tractor and tillage systems, providing the world’s first, fully closed-loop compaction mapping and remediation system.
Finally, the EO Soil Cloud is a growing database of physical, chemical, and biological soil data combined with novel remote-sensing data collected from our GroundOwl system. Soil Cloud has already borne fruit, producing new insights into calibrating compaction measurements for moisture, producing better understanding of similar growing regions in the US, and informing best practices for cross-field analytics.
